Focus on the latest therapeutic approaches
A special focus was placed on modern infiltration therapies for the treatment of cartilage damage. Prof. Dr. Stefan Nehrer, MSc, presented the latest findings on hyaluron, PRP and stem cells and their potential for joint preservation.
Also of great interest was the lecture by Priv.-Doz. DDr. Christian Albrecht, MBA, on cartilage cell transplantation with Spherox - MACT, an innovative method for regenerating cartilage tissue.
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Stefan Marlovits, MBA, highlighted the algorithm in the surgical treatment of cartilage damage and presented methods such as nanofracturing with NanoFx and the use of the Hyalofast membrane for cartilage regeneration.
Diverse approaches to joint preservation
In addition to these conservative and minimally invasive procedures, the focus was also on surgical strategies. For example, meniscus preservation for degenerative and traumatic lesions, meniscus transplantation and various methods of partial knee replacement were discussed.
Another highlight was the discussion of the importance of cruciate ligament stability for joint preservation and corrective osteotomy after tibial plateau fractures.
A successful start to the 2025 congress year
The meeting of the knee working group provided a valuable platform for interdisciplinary exchange between trauma surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons and physiotherapists. The combination of scientific depth and practical case studies made the symposium an important event for all those involved in the topic of joint preservation.
